That was the week…
Every Tuesday I intend to do a quick review of some of the posts from the last week that have made me smile, made me chuckle or, even…. just made me think.
Some of these you may have seen yourselves.
And some of them you may have missed.
I don’t think of these in any competitive sense at all.
This isn’t a top-ten listing.
They’re merely the posts that have stuck in my head.
1). I had no choice, really, than to start this week’s review with a post from a blog that I’ve yet to review.
Montpellier Daily Photo is a great site that publishes (often strangely wonderful) photos on a daily basis.
J’ai un petit zizi is a charming study of Man’s fears and insecurity in a fast moving world.
Or, then again, it could just be the result of a student who’s had a little bit too much to drink?
2). Even though it didn’t have a single picture of a Citroen 2CV, I couldn’t help but mention the wonderful post from Eminence Rouge.
A rather tasty Austin Seven (a sort of English version of the 2CV) is, for me, the highlight of “La Locomotion” – the bienniel car meet.
But, to be honest, all the cars depicted are very nice (and beautifully photographed.)
Especially the yellow one at the top of the page – that looks a bit like a French copy of an Austin Seven!
3). There was One Naughty Pony at My French Country Home this week.
The pony is called Iris (all the naughtiest ones are, so I’m told) and Iris is, surprising, a boy pony (all the naughtiest ones are, so I’m told!)
Iris is, of course, a sort of Houdini on four legs.
I’ve even heard a rumour that while he was in livery at the local stables he was the only pony who needed a padlock on his stable door!
Iris, you’re my hero!
4). Charley at 365 Things that I love about France decided to risk being ostracised from polite society by admitting that she owns a pink Twingo!
I somehow don’t think that she’ll be too worried if she doesn’t get an invitation to the Queen’s Garden Party.
After all, she and the kids are probably having a whole load of fun the kids buzzing around town, bombing around the French countryside and even going to the Alps every once in awhile!
I have to admit that I’m slightly disturbed to hear that Charley has another, smaller car!
What could be smaller than a Twingo, unless, God forbid, it’s one of these?
5). I’m glad to report that it’s still Gloriously Chaotic at Rue Rice and this post about Crazy Fall just goes to prove it!
I am not sure if Peggy goes looking for trouble or if it just follows her around but I do know that her posts really make my day (in a sort of… “Wow, and I thought that my life was complicated” kind of way!)
The latest episode in Rue Rice’s Glorious Chaos has got something to do with two old men fighting over vegetables in the market – or something like that….
Perhaps it’s Peggy’s perfume that causes the universe to seem to collapse around her?
OK – now all that stuff is out of the way, let’s get on to the really important stuff…
Of course, it’s Awards Time!
And, for only the second time ever, I am proud to announce a Blog of the Week Award!
This is awarded to the Blog post that has tickled my fancy the most during the past seven days.
Now, I’m putting on my big hat and wiping a tear from my eye as the beautiful bride walks up the aisle.
Yes, the rumours are true – Nicole at A British Expat in Nice got married!
Actually, if I’d paid a bit more attention to Nicole’s blog I would have realised that a wedding was imminent.
There are times that I can be a typical man!
There are a number of posts to do with the wedding but this one is the prettiest, I think.
What a breathtakingly beautifully decorated hotel room!
Nicole (or Mrs Nicole, I suppose it should be now), if you’d like to place your award on your blog sidebar just email me and I’ll send you the code.
Now for the rest of the awards….
Bare Botty of the Week Award goes to Sarah and Phil at Three Years in Provence!
I do have to say that it’s neither Sarah or Phil’s botty that gets bared – to find out who get cold around the nether regions you’ll have to read the blog!
The Award for the nicest schizophrenic of the week goes, without a doubt, to Candy Froggie at Candy Froggie’s Lair for her struggles with her own very French way of using the English language!
Struggle on Girl and, if you really want to confuse yourself, learn Breton!
The 7 year Franciversary Award goes to MilkJam at MilkJam. Congratulations on your itch, MilkJam!
And, bugger me, the 7 year Franciversary Award also goes to KSam at Totally Frenched Out.
Congratulations to you too Ksam!
I’m really going to have to get a job lot of these 7 year Franciversary Awards made up!
The Two Wheeled Tearaway of the Week Award (open to scooters, Moblylettes, Velosolexes and Citroen 2CVs being driven fast around a corner) goes to Genie at Paris and Beyond for her study of these four scooters.
The Yum Yum, Fill My Tum Award goes to the lovely Leesa at News from France for her post on the cornerstone of all good breakfasts…. the Breton Crepe!
Pyrenees Adventure gets the Wonderful Haul of Mushrooms Award for their wonderful haul of Hedgehog of the Woods, Chanterelle, Cep, Orange Birch Bolette, Shaggy Parasol, Giant Parasol and a Gypsy Mushroom.
I’m not sure if An English Rose in France wins this week’s Award for Weird Photos of Turkeys for her post about Washing on the Line or whether she wins this week’s Award for Lots of Pictures of Nice Cars for her post on Parking in Sixt?
I suppose I ought to be generous and give her both awards even though it goes against my principles to give two awards to the same blog.
Mind you, that young American lady (although calling her a Lady might be stretching things a bit) down in that Little Village in Provence seems to pick up a dozen awards or so every week?
Speaking of which…. I do have to say that some of the usual award winners didn’t get any prizes this week. Either their rants weren’t ranty enough or their posts were just too staid and demure!
In A Taste of Garlic terms, it’s not enough to call your pet snail Melvin, you have to eat the bugger too!
All the best

Thank you Keith! (Wedding pics might follow soon – it’s amazing how weddings make everyone look lovely!)
And yes, I’d love the code to display the award proudly in my sidebar – I’ll even promise to dust it occasionally and everything! I’m clearly having a blonde morning though, and can’t find your email address…

Merci, Keith! Tuesday is my favorite as you have very interesting notes about what is going on in the blogging (French) world. Thanks for mentioning my blog post.
Oh, and I am going to be looking for a blue Citroen 2CV on my next trip! See, I got it right this time.
Bises,
Genie
