Every Tuesday I intend to do a quick review of some of the posts from the last week that have made me smile, made me chuckle or, even…. just made me think.
Some of these you may have seen yourselves.
And some of them you may have missed.
I don’t think of these in any competitive sense at all.
This isn’t a top-ten listing.
They’re merely the posts that have stuck in my head.
1). Sara Louise’s brother in law, Honey B, got married.
The bride wore a nice dress….
Sara Louise’s husband played with Barbie dolls whilst…
Sara Louise played with her wine!
All this happened at Sara & Le Petit Village! But ignore all that! I’ve got something REALLY IMPORTANT to share with you!
The real highlight was the wedding car! Yes, classy or what? None other than that sexiest of all things motorised – a 2CV!
Check out this image and then tell me that’s not Sex on Wheels!
2). It was also wedding bells (or the echo of long ago wedding bells) at An English Rose in France.
Rosalyn and Paul celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary!
Now, I’m not going to make the obvious comment that poor Rosalyn would have got a shorter sentence for murder but I will say to Paul…
“Cool Moustache, mate – tres chic; tres Francais!”
3). I always enjoy a post from Sarah at St. Bloggie de Rivierre.
Especially when she’s having a rant about something or other!
Which, I’m happy to say, happens quite a lot!
This week it is the thorny subject of French Customer Service or Gens de Merde (those are the customers!) that gets up Sara’s hooter!
Obviously, for the restaurant in question, the customer is always wrong!
4). It is no secret that I am on the look out for a VeloSolex (a sort of two wheeled version of a 2CV!) and thus it is only right that I should be jealous of Andy at Prunings from the Vines as he has just nabbed a pair of them.
And, what a beautiful pair they are!
He’s calling them Jacques and Gilles which, in my humble opinion is totally wrong!
Everyone knows that VeloSolexes are cranky and cantankerous! I would have called them Griselda and Esmerelda!
But, whatever he’s called them – what a sleek pair they look!
And aren’t those panniers sexy!
5). For sheer understatement I have to mention Nicole at A British Expat in Nice.
She says…. “I went into Monaco to have coffee with a friend one afternoon a week or so ago and we went for a walk in the sunshine to a bit of the hill I’d never been to before, up round the back of the port.” with the same sort of nonchalance that I might say… “I’m just popping down to the outside privy for little widdle!”
But then, some people live on the French Riviera and others live in a cowshed in rural Brittany!
The photos are magnificent though!
If I lived in that house of the cliffs I could go fishing from my bedroom window!
And I wouldn’t have to go to the outside privy every time I wanted to have a piddle!
OK – now all that stuff is out of the way, let’s get on to the really important stuff…
Of course, it’s Awards Time!
And, for the first time ever, I am proud to announce a Blog of the Week Award!
This shall be awarded to Blog post that has tickled my fancy the most during the past seven days.
This post stood out above all others because it carefully manages to combine Geriatric Super Hero Heroics with meeting Karin (from an alien parisienne) and Paul (from Paris Inspired) in the Pompidou Centre where she had to pull her young (and presumably impressionable) son out of a room full to the brim of male and female private parts!
And, as if that weren’t enough, there was also some stuff all about “creepy ghoulish puppet people watching a movie of a naked lady hula hooping with barbed wire!”
All I can say is “Bravo, MJ!” You deserve your award! I hope that Lucien has recovered and has stopped seeing boobies everywhere!
MJ, if you’d like to place your award on your blog sidebar just email me and I’ll send you the code.
Now for the rest of the awards….
Box Elder wins the Best Vespa Post that isn’t about Scooters Award for her lovely post about wasps!
La Mom wins the Touche Pipi Award for not playing Touche Pipi! I might suggest that more impressionable readers of this site (and French Dads) refrain from investigating any further.
The Fete of the Week Award goes, quite rightly, to Walls in France.
This well written blog post has got some great accompanying photographs.
Just take a peek at this one and tell me that it doesn’t cry out.. “Fete!”
And there was no doubt about who the Water Melon Piggy Award should go to!
It just had to be I Love Aquitaine, didn’t it?
And finally (and in any other week this might have been Post of the week), Chez Loulou wins the coveted and hard contested Wow, I have just got to move to Provence Award!
And is it any wonder with beautiful photos like those shown on The Colour Purple?
What a great post!
All the best
