A Taste of Garlic

Daily Photo in Paris - Paris

paris Daily Photo in Paris because we all love reading blogs about life in FranceDaily Photo in Paris is Laurent’s blog about the city he loves (and I’ll give a hint about what city that is… There’s a clue in the title of the blog and it certainly isn’t Basingstoke!)

With 383 posts over the last 18 months there’s no way that I’m going to be able to cover all that this photoblog has to offer.

So, instead, I plan to ask my friend, Mr Google to help me find the bestest of the best bits to share with you.

And, of course, I had to start with this lovely photo of a Citroen truck.

Now, I know it’s not a 2CV but I like to think it’s what a 2CV would become if it had to grow up!

Bring me your hungry! Bring me your thirsty….

Hungry?  Thirsty?  Well, I know somewhere to go!

Actually I’ve found 22 places to go – all handily classified under Bars, Cafés and Restaurants in this blog.

The places that seemed especially welcoming were these…

The Floating Wine Bar not far from the Notre Dame…

A Café near Montematre – just so French…

Some Organic Food at a restaurant in the Marais. There was once an episode of Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares set in the Marais (at a vegetarian restaurant) – the doors f that restaurant were red but…..  does anyone know if this is the same one?

Bring on the beach….

Well, they say that life is a beach but, in Paris, there’s a beach in the city!

Personally, I think that if all cities had to provide Pétanque pitches, by law, there would be far less problems in the world and we would feel far more able to cope with the few that would be left; like Aids, Cancer and Third World Debt.

One day people will realise that I’m right and I’ll be offered a Nobel Prize!

But I’ll be too busy playing Pétanque to bother with all that!

And only in Paris would you find giant flowerpots and colour matched chairs – all painted the perfect shade of green!

Take to the Streets…..

The streets of Paris are where it’s at, man!

Or…  some other meaningless statement like that which probably makes a lot of sense if you were actually in Paris rather than sat in a cow shed in rural Brittany.

You could always follow The Lady who is “Bringing a “tarte” home …”

I tried to bring a Tart home once but Mrs A Taste of Garlic was not impressed and I spent the next five years sharing the pigsty with the pigs!

It was surprisingly comfortable though….

Or, you could wander round Paris By Night?

Look at the lovely red scooter!

I once tried to part exchange Mrs A Taste of Garlic for a little red Vespa but she wasn’t impressed and I spent the next fifteen years sharing the pigsty with the pigs!

Is it only me but doesn’t this Peaceful Street look a bit like Chelsea?

Food, glorious food….

So, I’m hungry.  It’s not my fault, is it?

Luckily, Laurent has laid on a little guide to help me satisfy my whim (or Caprice?)

You can always tell A good boulangerie by the length of the queue outside!

And with some bread and some Sauscissons you get the perfect sandwich.

I wonder if these Crepes are as good as the ones in Brittany?

Famous, one wonders, these days for being famous?

In any case, a trip to Paris wouldn’t be complete without some patisserie from Stohrer, would it now?

And, lets pop inside for another helping, just to make sure!

So, summing up….

Sometimes it is difficult to review a photoblog that is specific to one location.

It is obvious that Laurent has a great love for Paris and also, a great eye for a photograph.

This blog would be a good introduction to Paris, prior to a visit there.

Or perhaps, with thorough reading, this blog could be a suitable alternative to a visit, for those who just can’t find the time.

Take my advice; put some Edith Piaf on the stereo, pour yourself a large Ricard and dive into Daily Photo in Paris and…. enjoy!

You’ll be dancing the can-can before you know it.

Now, that’d be a sight, wouldn’t it?

And me?  Well, I’m going to take a wander alongside the Canal St. Martin.

I just love those prettily coloured shops!

And then I think I’ll just enjoy some of the Summer and Music that Laurent has laid on to make my little virtual trip to Paris such a joy!

Many thanks Laurent, many thanks!

All the best
