n’oubliez pas mon petit pois! is the new blog of Jamie Buckley who says of himself… “I live in a rural part of France. I grow my own fruit and vegetables in a little part of the garden and in lots of various containers. I like nothing more than creating mouthwatering dishes with my produce. I would like to share some of my yummy recipes and a little bit of my life with you. I have written a book, titled “Yummy. My Garden, My Food and My France based on my experiences, vegetable garden and food creations. Please have a look around and come with me into my world of yummy”
Now, even though it only has four posts so far I am doing a mini review of it anyway as I am (electronically speaking) in the Limousin this week, trying to dig up all the Life in France blogs I can.
But, for now, let’s start with the post that sums this blog up….
For my son Sébastien explains that (to use Jamie’s words)… “I am creating this blog, as a memoire for my son Sébastien, to look back on when he is older. I want him to learn about where he was born, what his daddy believes in and what I would like to share with him.”
I think that’s lovely, I really do!
Jamie goes on to say… “Dear Sébastien,
Daddy loves you loads and wants to give you something to look back on when you are older. A taste of where you were born and where daddy lives.”
The next post starts Dear Sébastien, I think you will remember…
And goes on to talk about how… “Daddy loves to grow vegetables and make wonderful recipes from them.”
Have I mentioned that the photos are lovely?
If I haven’t then I’ll do so now.
There are even more beautiful photos in A Few Memories from the Garden.
Photos of flowers to look at and of fruit and vegetables to eat.
It was only with the most recent post, Interesting Day! when I realised something about the blog that someone more observant then I would have deduced in a flash.
And that makes me feel like an immature insensitive oaf!
But then I remember that I am an immature insensitive oaf and have been all my life and I’m probably not going to change now so…
Best just get on and finish reviewing this blog which…
Has become, all of a sudden, more poignant!
The yummy bits….
Jamie has written a book called Yummy. My Garden, My Food and My France which is based on his experiences, vegetable garden and food creations.
The book looks very interesting – a sort of celebration or real France; the sort of France that is enjoyed by normal people like us (obviously won’t include me in the normal category) and might make a perfect summer’s read?
Now, I ought to say, on the Yummy website (www.yummy.limousinlinks.co.uk) Jamie has written 53 articles that explain who he is, where he is and so forth…
There’s plenty of seasonal advice for gardeners and….
For piggies like me….
There’s a whole bunch of recipes!
So, summing up….
Obviously still a very young blog I still think that it might be worth paying a visit to n’oubliez pas mon petit pois! and keeping an eye on it.
Take a look at the Yummy website (www.yummy.limousinlinks.co.uk) too….
I hope that Jamie carries on this worthwhile endeavour and I aim to pop back in a few months time to do a full review.
In the meantime I think I’ll just have another look at those recipes on the Yummy website (www.yummy.limousinlinks.co.uk)!
All the best
