A Taste of Garlic

The A Taste of Garlic World Tour!

general The A Taste of Garlic World Tour! because we all love reading blogs about life in France

After months and months of planning…

Mrs A Taste of Garlic and I have decided to commence the first stage of our world tour!

We shall be leaving the windswept wilds of slightly rural and very backward Brittany on Monday and heading south…

As fast as our old jalopy will go!

Now, we’re not very sure of where we’ll end up…

But we’ll be sort of heading for La Rochelle (as it’s downhill from here) and…

And would like to meet the lovely Mrs A Taste of Garlic in the flesh (I will try to persuade her to wear some clothes but you know what she’s like!)….

Let us know before the weekend and we’ll try to aim the car somewhere in your direction!

We don’t know how far south we’ll get but…

We’ll certainly do our best to meet up with anyone brave enough to want to meet up with us!

general The A Taste of Garlic World Tour! because we all love reading blogs about life in FranceThis will be the first of many stages on the A Taste of Garlic World Tour (assuming that current business plans work out) and…

Next time we may well be heading east to Paris or North to Normandy.

But…

Have no fear…

Wherever we go…

We’ll try to meet up with some of the people we’ve maligned, laughed at and otherwise mistreated here at A Taste of Garlic!

general The A Taste of Garlic World Tour! because we all love reading blogs about life in FranceWe’ve also talked about trying to arrange some Life in France Bloggers’ Picnic Potential Disasters ‘cos we can’t afford restaurants unless I raid Mrs A Taste of Garlic’s penny jar and…

If she catches me doing that she wallops me something rotten!

But, upon reflection….

We might be better off waiting for next year to do all that sort of thing?

But certainly, if you’ve got kids and you want to show them what not to be when they grow up…

A picnic with Uncle Keithy and Auntie Jilly will probably have them studying 24 hours a day!

Just a thought – if there’s anyone out there brave/mad enough to help us organise some regional Life in France Expats Bloggers Picnic Thingies?

If anyone living between Brittany and La Rochelle wants to meet up sometime next week (or, if you’re planning to move into that region in the next couple of days)…

Just let Mrs A Taste of Garlic know and she can put a splodge on the map near where you are…

And who knows….

We might actually get to meet some of you!

All the best

I would LOVE to help arrange one in le Nord, especially if you all let me be the designated driver ;)

But seriously — come to Lille? We’d love to meet you!
I think if your picnics take off, you ought to organize a national convention where we all travel to the same town for a weekend and have a big party, full of all the pig’s bottom sausage you carnivores can eat. What do you think??

    Hey, Amber….

Not so sure about the driving bit but…

If you want to help organise a Bloggers’ Picnic, up your way, next year, we’ll be there!

We might even get in contact with Shannon to see if she can arrange one of those 5 minutes in Belgium tours that she’s famous for!

    All the best

    Keith

P.S. I assume (although assumption is the mother of all cock ups) that you didn’t hit anyone on your way home today?

Stick a splodge on your map for me Uncle Keithy (inland from La Rochelle a shimmy). Us Deux Sevreans are a friendly and welcoming lot, would be honoured to pour you a drop of wine and as for a picnic sometime – sounds great to me!

If you can make it all the way down here I can help organise a picnic on the beach. Or something. :)

If you’re ever down this far south we’d love to meet up.

hey, what happened to your trip to Provence. We KNOW how to party down here!

  • By Keith Eckstein, September 7, 2011 @ 12:37 pm

    Delana

Since Mrs A Taste of Garlic broke the tractor we have to rely on my old car to get anywhere….

And every time we come to a hill, Mrs A Taste of Garlic has to get out and push (and she doesn’t like that very much – it plays hell with her bunions!)

But, if we do ever manage to get down to Provence we’ll certainly look you up!

    All the best

Come to Toulouse, Keith – the land of Foie Gras!

Serious tease. You guys have to come down here and hang out with us, Delana is right. Plan for October blogapalooza if you please.

What?! How can you leave Bretagne when the main event of the year is happening next week? (or at least the main event for farmers of the region LOL).

I’m talking about the “Space”. Even I will be rolling into town for it. (In all reality, it is all agricultural stuff and will likely be very boring. But I just like saying SPACE!)

I love that picture of you and Mrs Garlic–Spicy!

(Of course, I realize it isn’t a photo of y’all, but I’m unable to let a bad pun go by unshared.)

Make sure you let my wife (!) and I know when you breeze through Pairs; it’ll be wonderful to put a face to the…face, I guess.

No, that really IS a picture of Mrs A Taste of Garlic and me!

It was, I do have to admit, taken a few years ago and we’re both a bit more wrinkly, droopy and crinkled than that now.

Love to meet up when we do the Paris Stage of our world tour!

    All the best

No choice really; Mrs A Taste of Garlic has planned it all and the alignment of the stars combined with the statistically diminished likelihood of alien visitation all add to an optimum time for us.

That and the fact that our pensions go into our accounts this weekend!

    All the best

  • By Richard Brown, September 10, 2011 @ 2:20 pm

Sorry, Keith, you`ve chosen the wrong week as we wont be here. Shame, would have liked to meet up especially after the super review you`ve done on Overloaded Ark. I am walking round with a swollen head and getting complaints from Mrs Noah…

All the best for your trip!

    Richard

    Next time maybe?

Don’t forget to take your pocket knife with you.

    Keith

P.S. Thinking about it, you might lose it so better take two!
