Nouvelle Vie: My New Life in France

Reviewed – February 4, 2010

Nouvelle Vie: My New Life in France is another teacher’s blog (yesterday we did Emma, although not in the biblical sense, I hasten to add!)

Katie is, to use her words (far better her’s than mine…) …an American Expat living in Eastern France with my Frenchman. I’m starting my third year in France. I’m a former Assistant, now teaching for a language company. I write about my life in France and my crazy experiences in this wacky country!

As well as the obligatory post along the lines of…. I hate French Bureaucracy! Katie entertains us with details of her Driving License and her new car.

And I really am going to be on my best behaviour and refrain from making any comments about young women and new cars….

Valhalla Farm – Small holdings have been around for many, many years. Can’t say I’m a fan of the term though. What does it actually mean? It just doesn’t conjure up any visions for me. I’m pleased to say a new term has entered the English language – Hobby Farm – and I like it. It’s descriptive, sums up in an instant what we’re about and negates any embarrassment I may have felt when a ‘real’ farmer, having breakfasted at sunrise, drove past in his huge mechanical beast on route to one of his several 30 acre fields.  It’s official, farming can be a small-scale hobby.

If you know of any other blogs from English speaking expats living in Franche-Comté, please let me know and I’ll add them to this page.

And if you decide to visit any of the blogs shown on this page, why not leave a comment and say hello? It can sometimes be a lonely business (or, rather, hobby) being a blogger and an unexpected comment or email can really put a sparkle on the day!

All the best

Franche Comté because we all love reading blogs about life in France
