Hi Keith,

I completely stumbled on this site and I am really impressed. I think it's a great idea to promote blogs with the same theme. I can't believe how many of us Anglais-parlants have decided to give it a try in France!

I'm a nomad searching for home blogging about my newest stop in Lyon (Rhone-Alpes). I write about culture shock, stereotypes, looking for love, dreams and adventure, European travel, and navigating the multi-faceted experience of an ex-pat abroad.

I think it's great that you gave up what you didn't want and started something better. Kudos!

Hi Phil

I think anyone would be confused and dazed having fallen out of Fly in the Web's sites (she does do a lovely rant though!)

I've been speaking to George about doing some optimisation on his existing site - our one business meeting so far was held outside my local bar and washed down with far too much beer!

I wish all business meeting were like that!

He's a great man - even better in the flesh than he comes over in his books!

All the best

Keith

P.S. He gave me one of his famous vests!

P.P.S. I'm not sure whether to wear it, frame it and put it on the wall or just put it in a safe with a view to selling it at Sotherbys in a few years time?

‘Whoops’ made me chuckle. Reminds me of the early 90’s ‘Crashed PC’ cartoon classic depicting an insanely enraged Donald Duck stood over his keyboard wielding a huge lump hammer over his head with the caption “Press any key to continue”.

Just fell out of Mme Fly’s Costa Rica/French Leave blogs and landed smack in here. Still a bit confused and dazed by it all, but I’m slowly beginning to pick up the gist of the central theme. (!) No really.

Re your ‘My Day Job’ – interestingly, I only tripped over George East’s book series last week via our new local library. Not sure how he’s stayed under my radar so long. If Ollie Reed had been born of his next generation, he would have immortalised Georges character for all time. Probably taken the part on just for the wine and the calvados too.

The story of my walk around the circumference of France, 4,000 miles. Walking the Hexagon, an escape around France on foot. The best way to get in touch with rural France.

15June2012. Dear Keith-in-Toronto,
Having discovered your blog only this evening by good chance, I saw you mention the Citroen Deux-Chevaux. This last summer I was in Salbris for a week, volunteering at the Mondiale de la Deux-Chevaux. 7.000 wonderful vehicles! But on your blog, I am unable to find the article about the 2 CV. If you have time, could you direct me to where I can read what you wrote about my favorite French car, please?
Cordially,
Susan-near-Vancouver.

I have had a wonderful 7 months in Strasbourg working as an English language assistant. I am attempting to document my travels in Europe on my blog, and at the end will post a special one on Strasbourg, which I miss terribly!
Hope you enjoy reading!

Emma

Thanks for the comment - following detailed and in-depth discussions with the government (the soon to be ex-government) I have been persuaded to cease updating garlic (apparently it gives the world the wrong impression of France - people are beginning to think of it as a country populated by a few bemused locals and a host of Potty Paris Based Expats, Terrible Texans and Mad Ones from Montpellier - not so good for the tourist trade; at least, that's how Nick Sarkozy explained it to me?)

I hope all is well with you (surely you can't be the sole Picardie Princess?) - although my faithful spies have mention that you appear to have taken up exercise?

Is this true?

Are you sure that it's a good idea (at your age?)

We tend to shun exercise here in rural (and positively medieval) Brittany but, I do have to say that...

Mrs A Taste of Garlic (being the modern woman she aspires to be) does occasionally strap a pig to her back and go out for a little jog; I think this is more to cure her flatulence more than anything else, though?

Anyway, nice to hear from you - just bear in mind; If God had wanted us to run (or even walk) 5KM he wouldn't have invented the Citroen 2CV!

All the best

Keith

P.S. Just in case you were thinking of trying it; that strapping a big pig to your back and going out for a jog doesn't really cure flatulence - I'm juts not brave enough to tell Mrs A Taste of Garlic!
