My Life in France is Madison’s Blog.
Madison says of herself… “I am a sixteen year old female spending my junior year of high school abroad in France.”
And I have absolutely no reason to doubt her!
What Madison doesn’t mention is that she’s also a bit of a blogaholic with 218 blog posts since she started in August 2010!
I wasn’t too sure what to expect when I started to review her blog but I was hoping that, as well as the normal Young American Girl in France stuff, I’d also find some weird bits….
And, of course, with a blog entitled My Life in France, I was also hoping for some foodie bits as well!
So, without further ado…
Let’s dive in and see what we can find to munch upon!

I’ve noticed recently that the majority of my reviews are of blogs written by people of the female persuasion (apart from those written by blokes, that is!)
I was determined to remedy this but then I discovered The Everyday Life of a Young American Girl in France.
And I would have been OK, really, if only I hadn’t stumbled over a post called Les Toilettes (I’ll pay a visit there shortly.)
And that, I’m afraid, was me done for!
So, whether you like it or not, here’s another blog by a girlie in France.
The Everyday Life of a Young American Girl in France is Laura’s blog.
Laura says… “I am a 23 year old American girl currently living in Lille, France. I spend a lot of my time being baffled by the French (including, but not limited to, their culture, food, and language), despite having a handy dandy interpreter in the form of my very own French boyfriend (otherwise known as FBF). I have decided to share not only the moments where I feel a part of this foreign land, but also the moments where I simply don’t get it. C’est ma vie quotidienne (It’s my everyday life)!”
Now, I know that you’re dying to find about all about the latrines so, let’s start with the toilets and underarm hair bits….

Le Log Lillois is Peter Newman-Legros’ blog about life in Lille. Peter’s blog deserves a mention here for at least three of the following reasons….
1). He has written an intelligent and witty post about the greatest Rock star of all time; I speak of non other that The European Elvis, The Crooner with Chutzpah, The Real Royal in France, The Souverain… The one and only Johnny Hallyday! More details to be found at… Can a King commit treason?
2). Another post details one of my favourite dishes… Moules, moules, moules…. I guess Peter likes them as well as he mentioned them thrice!
3). To top it all, he mentions another of my favourite dishes… choucroute aux fruits de mer – or, as he puts it… Fish ‘n cabbage. I had this a couple of years ago at le Di’vin at Vannes (an excellent seafood restaurant just outside the fish market: we chose it after asking some of the fishmongers in the market where was the best place to go.) Fish and cabbage is an excellent dish and it’s inclusion on Peter’s blog raises the blog to the heights of gastronomy.

What makes Uh Oh Spaghettios such a wonderful blog?
Is it….
a). That its owner, Rebecca, describes herself as a French-American living in Lille, raising a Franco-American family, and fighting against excessive dog excrement.
b). That out of the 423 posts, 51 are labeled Oh La La, 18 are labeled Cuisine and only one is labeled TV (there’s also one labelled Sex but I wouldn’t get too excited; it’s not that raunchy – the post, I mean, not sex in general.)
c). The first article I ever read on it (a conversation between Rebecca and her daughter), reads as follows…
Suz:what’s inside of people?
Me: blood and bones and muscles.
Suz: is blood a liquid or a solid?
Me: liquid, like juice.
Suz: what’s a solid?
Me: Um, bones.
Suz: and what’s a gas?
Me: Your breath.
Suz: or a fart…and wolves have blood juice inside of them.
I mean, what more could you want in a blog? An Anatomy lesson, The endless fight against Dog Excrement and…… plenty of Oh La La!

Travelling Amber is the blog of an American ex-pat living with Reunion guy, Jeremie, in the cold north of France.
Amongst all the posts concerning renovating their apartment, we also find out that Amber treats herself to a red Smart cat (Welcoming LadyBug to the Family), which she, for some strange reason, calls LadyBug.
Then, even stranger, she crashes the new car (That’s Why They Call It an Accident)
Now, I’m not going to make any comments about road accidents, women, Smart cars and the bizarre tendency for women to name their cars (Smart or not), but……
