I’m starting to worry that I seem to be focusing too much on Life in France blogs (which is understandable – as that’s what I do here at A Taste of Garlic) written by women who’ve recently had children (and I’m talking here of… “still in that traumatised state that having children engenders!” – I’m not sure how long that takes to pass; I guess it depends upon the children?)
I have a sneaky suspicion that those sort of blogs are easier for me? Or perhaps they’re more enjoyable to review?
All those “And guess how many lumps of dog poo little Johnny managed to walk through on his way home from school?” blogging opportunities.
All those chances to boastfully blog about “My little chappie is probably the only toddler in the world who can fill his nappies and projectile vomit all over the vicar; both at the same time!”

The French Country Challenge is Laura and Ashley’s blog about rediscovering a more self-sufficient, sustainable (and cheap!) way of life in rural France.
Laura and Ashley are (to use their own words)…… “two American girls who went to Paris to study at age eighteen and now, seven years, an education and some work experience later, have left the city of lights with our respective partners to live in the French countryside and pursue dreams of a more fulfilling, self-sufficient, eco-friendly, sustainable and slower way of living. In short, the good life. Something which in France inevitably involves good food.”
And their blog promises to ..“share with you all our adventures in this pursuit: the ups and downs of organic gardening, mouthwatering recipes, tips for living on the cheap, as well as the exploits of Maya and Kali, the pointer sisters (Laura’s puppies), and Bandit the chihuahua, so far our only livestock.”
Oh yes, I’ll have some of that!

A Pretty How Town tells the tales of MissChris who lives in the Val d’Oise a region (about thirty minutes outside of Paris); who moves a lot for her husband’s job.
A man she met in over a plate of spaghetti and a spilled water pitcher.
Now, I have scoured this blog and have to say that I can’t find any posts about 2CVs or Lingerie. Never mind though, because I did find the Dog Poop post!…. Escaping the doo-doo.

La Belle Saison (by Princesse Ecossaise) is the blog of a 20-something Scottish girl who now finds herself living in Versailles with her French fiancé (French Prince, AKA FP) and Scottish pussy chat.
She freely admits that no matter how hard she tries to avoid embarrassing moments, providence always manages to place a banana skin beneath her foot.
Now I’ve always found (and I’m sure there’s a law against making statements like the one I think I’m about to make…), people from Scotland rather hard to understand.
Why, for example, would anyone choose to be born so far from a decent football team?

News From France is Leesa’s blog about her day to day life living near Paris.
Leesa, according to her blog profile, is a former San Diegan living in France for the past 3 years who writes about her daily experiences of life in France to share with anyone who’s interested.
I’ve been following Leesa’s blog for a long time now and that makes it a bit hard for me to be objective for this review – for me, News from France has become part of the furniture, just like Google, Yahoo and Facebook. Is that a good thing? Well, yes, I think it is.
The posts range from photo essays such as this one on French Poppies to this rather tasty one… And Some Goats Cheese.
