I love this cartoon. When out and about I have seen people walking around oak trees, when they see you coming the stare at the sky with an innocent look on their face. I feel sure that are looking for truffles!

Hi Diane, I know exactly what you mean. When we go mushroom hunting with Ernest, our retired carpenter neighbour (and inspiration for the drawing), he parks the car away from where we’ll look and if we see anyone he changes course to stay out of sight, with a finger to his mouth to keep us quiet. Defending one’s territory goes so far that outsiders have been known to return to flat tyres when they park in another village’s woods. Ah well, the girolles season starts soon, happy hunting.
