Brittany Blues - Brittany

brittany Brittany Blues because we all love reading blogs about life in FranceBrittany Blues is Wendy Mewes’ blog about her life in Brittany.

And this is what Wendy has to say about herself.. “Here I am in Finistere, Brittany, France. What am I doing? Writing books, walking, guiding, teaching, promoting Breton heritage to anglophones and being happy in my own odd way. I run Brittany Heritage Services, a business devoted to improving the provision of information for anglophone visitors and residents in Brittany (www.brittanyheritageservices.com).”

I’ve sort of been aware of Wendy for some time as I occasionally pop into BrittanyWalks.com and the associated blog The Brittany Walks Blog.

So, I thought it was high time I take a close look at Wendy’s blog and see what she is up to.

And where better to start than by taking a look at some megaliths?

Now, Wendy seems to be rather interested in megaliths and, living in Brittany, who can blame her?

They’re everywhere here!

There’s the cliff-top neocropolis at Menez-Dregen and  the neolithic allée couverte at Mougau Bihan.

Or we could take a good walk on the Landes de Cragou, where Dartmoor ponies graze and buzzards wheel?

And if you really like megaliths, you need to go to Carnac – so many megaliths, all in rows!

Chez Wendy…

So, Wendy writes but, where does she do it?

Well, lets take a look at Chez Moi.  Doesn’t it look nice?

And the view From my window is even better!

Even if you’re Working outside today, can you think of a better place to do so?

Who knows, you might even come up with an idea for a book about… “the experimental scientist who has trained a mongrel dog not only to talk but to speak various languages, including Breton: “qui n’est pas chose facile pour un chien matiné, meme savant.””

And even if you don’t, there still more to look at at Chez moi, encore.

So, what’s Brittany like, then?

Well, for years I’ve been saying that it’s where God goes for his holidays; when he’s bored with heaven!

You see, it’s bounded by this Never ending coast and has natural harbours like Rade de Brest.

And there are some great places to see, like the Chateau de Kerjean and small cities like Quimper…. “capital of Finistere and the Cornouaille region…  It has its quirks in addition to the much-pictured cobbled medieval streets and maisons à pan de bois.”

Of course, we mustn’t forget my favourite city… Vannes!

You should never forget that It’s a long way from Paris to Guingamp.

And, speaking of football….

Were we, speaking of football, I mean?

Well, Wendy knows a lot about football.

You ought to listen to what she has to say about the French (football) farce.

And hear her wise, wise words about Zizou (Zidane for those not in the know.)

All I can say is… Allez les Bleus!

So, summing up…

You should come and pay a visit to Brittany Blues

Wendy has plenty of interesting things to say (believe me, I’ve only scraped the surface here) on a wide range of subjects from the Death penalty for cruelty to houses to Hell.

Just make sure that you don’t possess… “An over fondness for dancing.”

And me?  Well, I fancy a spot of Walking the Finistere Coast.

And then there’s a Pardon I’ve just got to see!

Fancy coming along?

All the best
