A Bitch about Brittany - Brittany

A Bitch about Brittany is Gillian O’ Donovan’s blog about her life in Brittany. Gillian describes herself as an ex-Londoner living in rural Brittany, France, for the last 18 years, with her family and far too many animals and wood stoves. The ramblings on her blog, some of which are cross, are about life in the countryside, and how to cope when your high heels are replaced by clogs.

But then, that’s what we all blog about, isn’t it? How to cope when your high heels are replaced by clogs? I know that I do!

Gillian is a singer/songwriter who is a late comer to Jazz.  But you can read al about that sort of stuff at www.GillianDonovan.com – I’m more interested in Gillian’s blog.

Which contains details about living with teenagers, such as Home to survey the damage, or scary flashing flowers or Party Animals.  There are even more articles about teenagers such as…  Fear and Loathing in the Attic and Happy homecoming, with a small element of vomiting.  Teenagers, eh?  Who’d have them?  Apart from tales of Darling Daughter and Drummer Boy (son) there are other things in Gillian’s life.

Such as her dog (Porridge)….  Porridge and the shiny cup saga and her music teaching…. The boy who just says qui.

And bearing in mind that it has snowed heavily in Brittany recently (it never snows in Brittany because we have a micro-climate.  yeah, right!), the obligatory post about going out in Artic conditions… White out.

I’m not going to tell you about the excellent photographs or the clever prose.  I’m not even going to mention the slight air of  exasperation that you creeps into some of the posts – you would expect that from the mother of teenage children anyway.
