Normandy Life - Basse-Normadie

basse normadie Normandy Life because we all love reading blogs about life in FranceNormandy Life is Maggie’s blog about her life as a… “transplanted English rose living in rural tranquility in the middle of the Normandy countryside. I’ve been married to my wonderful husband for 30 years and we share our home with our 10 year old black & white cocker spaniel Ben. We all live happily together in a 16th C /18th C Presbytere which we renovated from bottom to almost top, 13 years ago. With the roof, our last project, now completely renewed, our work here is done.”

Things to eat…… Well, I don’t know about you but I find all this blog reviewing in hungry work and so I’m always on the look out for a bite to eat (or two!)

You can understand how happy I was to come across a veritable feast at Normandy Life!

For starters there’s Courgette Fritters a la Fanny Flagg which looks absolutely delicious!

I’ve got a feeling that I’ll be asking Maggie to contribute to my Sunday Recipes from France section real soon!

And with grub like this Zuppa di Pane e Pomodoro it won’t be a moment too soon!

When Maggie asks… Is there anything better than a home made cake?

I’ve got to answer no, there isn’t, unless it’s A Normandy Cheese Board.

Or these cherries, which are cherry ripe.

And what about these Baby Calves?

Don’t they just make you start salivating?

They do me!

So, moving swiftly on before Farmer Marc comes after me with his shotgun…..

Out and about in Normandy………..

Let’s go and visit Port en Bessin and have a good look round.

Do you see all those cheeses?

Don’t they just make you start salivating?

They do me!

And we could go for A Beach Stroll to work up a nice appetite before popping over to Claude Monet’s Garden at Giverny.

The joys of rural living…..

One of the joys of rural living is that the broadband internet connections ar often not very good.

This means that, instead of spending all day glued to our computers waiting for someone to say something interesting on the internet, we country folk make our own pleasures.

Like visiting The Dechetterie – the highlight of my week!

Or  going to a Vide Greniers; an experience not to be missed!

And did you notice that lovely, sleek and sexy Velosolex in the second photo down?

And sometimes, for real excitement, we go and look for Graffiti and try and work out what it means.

The gardening bits….

There is quite a bit about gardening on this blog.

So let’s start off with Woo Hoo it’s Outdoor Wednesday in the Potager and see what we might find?

Maybe some of Mother Nature’s Bounty?

My, don’t those courgettes look good?

I’m starting to get rather hungry; aren’t you?

There’s News from the Potager which, in my book, is always good news!

Especially if it causes Maggie to shout out… “Anyone for Salad?”

So, summing up….

Normandy Life is  a rather lovely blog that is largely to do with Gardening and cooking.

Oh, and living a great life in rural Normandy!

I’d strongly advise all of you to pay a quick visit to Normandy Life

And see if you can grab some of those courgettes for me, whilst you’re there?

I’ll see you right (know what I mean?)

And me?  Well, as it’s a bit chilly, I’m thinking of Log fires, tea and books.

And then, perhaps a cosy Sunday night supper for two.

Care to join me?

All the best
